L’ora Ristorante

"A mixed experience, sadly. The food itself was good - no complaints there - but the service and organisation let things down considerably. For a quiet Sunday afternoon with few other diners, waiting over an hour for a main course was hard to justify. When the fish eventually arrived, it was cold. The staff were not unpleasant, but a restaurant needs to do better than this. A little more attention to the basics would go a long way - good food deserves to be served well."

"L'ora is a hidden gem hiding in almost plain sight. My date chose it because the menu featured fregotto (Sardo risotto). The menu isn't broad, but we thoroughly enjoyed it so much we went twice, including our last evening in Sassari. I've never had such flavorful or consistent mussels as we had at L'ora. Each night we shared the catches of the day, branzino and red sea bream, respectively, both served whole with cherry tomatoes and seared baby potatoes. The food was simple and fresh -- exactly what I'd expect from Italian cuisine, but the quality of the ingredients certainly raised my standards. The service was careful, cheerful, and amusing. Be patient. At least in June of 2026, the restaurant seemed short-staffed, but the dinner was well worth it."

"This place is open again and I can’t recommend highly enough. The chef is genuinely talented with some really creative- and delicious- ideas. The dishes stood up against the best I’ve had in the world. The front of house team are welcoming, kind and charming. If I were local I’d be there every week; as it is, it was the perfect first-night welcome to Sardinia. This restaurant deserves to do really well. Buona fortuna!"
